Obama Tries to Censor Ad Linking Him to Ayers

Obama Tries to Censor Ad Linking Him to Ayers
By Audacity Watch

Perhaps desperate because of sinking poll performance, Barack Obama and his campaign have made an all-out effort to silence the latest ad from the American Issues Project, a conservative non-profit group. The Associated Press is
reporting that not only is the Obama campaign trying to get TV stations to pull the spot, but they have sent two letters to the Justice Department seeking to have the American Issues Project investigated. Having little success censoring the ad, the Obama folks have released a response ad that does not refute any of the original ad’s claims, according to the AIP:

Toga! Toga!! Toga!!!
By Power Line

We've written about Barack Obama's Greek Temple
here and here. Now, the McCain campaign has joined in the ridicule:

Today, workers at Invesco Field are putting the final touches on the newest wonder of the modern political world -- The Temple of Obama ("The Barackopolis"). It is upon this pulpit that Barack Obama will tomorrow night address thousands of screaming, adoring fans.

There may be some confusion among the press about the venue and appropriate dress code for Barack Obama's big speech. To help out, we wanted to provide the following tips on appropriate attire. The toga may have gone out of style centuries ago, but after Obama's temple speech tomorrow night, they're sure to be flying off the racks.

Obama's unbounded ego, combined with his nearly non-existent achievements, may finally have led him over the cliff. That's what Charles Krauthammer wonders: "Has he lost his mind?"

The Berlin folly -- in English.

The Superbowl Halftime Show -- without the game.

What's the finish? Maybe Obama’s got Zhang Yimou to do the hidden-rope trick, and have him lifted, Beijing-style, to the heavens when he’s done. Will he reappear three days later at the Bird’s Nest?

Or maybe he'll just do a Napoleon and coronate himself. By the time Napoleon made himself emperor, he had won the Battles of Lodi, of Arcole, of Rivoli, of the Pyramids and of Marengo. And had promugulated the Napoleonic Code. He had yet to write a single autobiography.

But of course, he was only Napoleon.

MUST WATCH: Do You Know Enough About Barack Obama?

The Biggest Goof Yet
By Jennifer Rubin

The conservative blogosphere is agog: what was Barack Obama thinking? He took a story largely confined to the internet, (only briefly raised in the primary) about Obama’s connection to former terrorist Bill Ayers, put it in his own ad, and then filed a claim trying to force the third-party 527 ad that first brought up the Obama-Ayers connection off the air.

In the next 24 hours thousands if not millions of voters who never heard of or didn’t understand the extent of the Obama-Ayers relationship are going to get a full education:

That Justice Department complaint is a stunt reeking of abject panic. Really, isn’t this just unlimited free publicity for the McCain accusations? In the Right blogosphere there is a mix of amazement and delight. And in case you thought the McCain camp wasn’t thrilled by this turn of events, read what Steve Schmidt has to say about it.

It is very hard to figure out the reasoning behind the Obama effort. Perhaps there is a deadly poll or maybe they think they can so skew the coverage as to insulate himself. But for now, it is just plain baffling.

POOR SPORT, OBAMA... now he wants to prosecute the group that did this ad. He does that instead of answering the questions we legitimately have about him.

The Slavery Apology Backfire

The Slavery Apology Backfire
By Jeffry Lord

That didn't take long.

News flash: the Democrats will not be wasting any time at their Denver Convention apologizing for slavery -- or segregation either. They aren't even ashamed enough to apologize for giving a double thumbs-up to lynching African-Americans.

Tennessee Democratic Congressman Steve Cohen, the sponsor of the recently passed House Resolution that voiced an apology for slavery and segregation on behalf of the U.S. government, says he will not be pushing for an apology on any of these issues from his fellow Democrats. He labeled the idea a "red herring."

On a recent appearance on the Comcast Network's "It's Your Call with Lynn Doyle" (shown on CN8) with, among others, your humble correspondent, Congressman Cohen was going on with great delight about the kumbaya-ness of his recently passed House Resolution. A voice vote. Democrats and Republicans together. Just wonderful, don't ya know?

Until, that is, I pointed out to the considerable television audience that the terrible things cited in his resolution were relentlessly championed for almost two centuries by his own political party. Cohen lists them specifically in his Resolution as follows: "racism, lynchings, disenfranchisement, Black Codes, and racial segregation laws that imposed a rigid system of officially sanctioned racial segregation in virtually all areas of life."

Well, now. That's a pretty good list of evil to accuse someone of when asking for an apology. And I had used the word "evil" in my opening remarks with what I assumed was the Congressman's agreement. So, I did the obvious, wondering aloud whether Cohen had any plans to get a similar apology from his fellow Democrats since it was they who were in fact responsible for the racist history he listed.

Obamacide

Obamacide
By Matt Barber

How does one properly describe another who would – for purely selfish political reasons and with deliberation – intentionally refuse a thirsty child water or a hungry child food?

More specifically, what does one call a lawmaker who would condemn to death the child survivor of a botched abortion by permitting doctors to refuse that child, once born alive, potentially life-saving medical treatment and nutrition?

A number of things come to mind. Mr. President isn’t one of them.

Based on National Journal’s vote ratings – an objectively tallied assessment of congressional voting records – Barack Obama has properly earned the dubious distinction as the single most liberal Senator in Congress during his brief, albeit overstayed, tenure. But a cursory review of his words, deeds and associations reveals that this ivory-towered Harvard boy is no run-of-the-mill lefty. He’s an extremist among extremists.

(snip)

So what, exactly, did the ban ban? What “hard-won right” – as he later called partial-birth abortion – was Obama so steadfast to preserve?

During a partial-birth abortion, the abortionist pulls a fully developed, fully “viable” child – often kicking and thrashing – feet first from her mother’s womb, leaving only the top of her head in the birth canal. He then stabs her through the skull with scissors or some other sharp object, piercing her brain until her kicking and moving about suddenly and violently jerk to a halt. Her brains are then sucked out – collapsing her skull – and her now limp and lifeless body is tossed aside like so much garbage.

Again, medical science has determined that this horrific practice, which is nothing short of infanticide, is never necessary.

Obama Compares United States Unfavorably to China and Russia

Obama Compares United States Unfavorably to China and Russia
By Rush Limbaugh

OBAMA: Everybody's watching what's going on in Beijing right now in the Olympics. Think about the amount of money that China has spent on infrastructure. Their ports, their train systems, their airports are all vastly superior to us now, which means if you're a corporation deciding where to do business, you're starting to think Beijing looks like a pretty good option.

(snip)

RUSH: All right. So once again, Obama compares our incursion into Iraq as a similar moral equivalent example of the Russians going into Georgia. You have to ask the question: "Is he just stupid, or is he pandering here to this wacko, nutcase fringe base of his?" We spent a year and a half there at the UN. There were 14 resolutions, maybe more. We had allies going into Iraq. We also had some people opposing us. But we just didn't march in under the cover of darkness when nobody knew it. Hussein knew we were coming. Everyone knew.

We had built up the whole thing for a year and a half. We had given Hussein ample time to show that he didn't have weapons of mass destruction. And this man, the Democrat presidential nominee -- who did not even consider Hillary Clinton as his number two, this man -- has the audacity, twice in one day, to compare the United States to both Russia and China, and in both instances finds the United States failing, finds the United States in second place.

The country that has given him a life and an opportunity he could have found in no other country on this planet, and he is not grateful for a single thing this has done for him. He has a sense of entitlement, apparently. I don't understand the lack of gratitude somebody like Obama has for the greatest place on earth.

I can certainly understand there are America haters out there and he is obviously one of them, but it makes no sense politically to seek the presidency of the United States broadcasting the fact that you hate your own country. That's why I question the political acumen and general baseline intelligence here that this little man-child operates from.

This is more Obama-ignorance. The Olympic workers that so impressed him were kept locked in a compound, having to practice all day long, in squalid conditions, not fed all that well, or allowed to see their families--for over a year. So Obama may want to rethink that, and consider the terrible price a few minutes of his entertainment cost, while it robbed every bit of freedom those young adults (some 2500 for opening/closing ceremonies and some 300,000 migrant workers to build the thing*) might've thought they had.

As for investing in China, if we did, China could steal any company we might build there at anytime (and, no, the USA isn't going to go to war with China because they stole some American's plastic watch factory!)--and, if you send any mock-up, blueprints, or plans of, say, what you wish to manufacture, the Chinese 'appropriate' them for themselves, with no remuneration, and produce a like-product (though many times inferior) so as to dent the market for the legit manufactures and gain technology they didn't have before.

Thus, we've made inroads in China--they've allowed a certain amount of manufacturing (sometimes a lot, depending on the goods) on a capitalist score, but to compare them to the United States--and have us come up wanting--is ignorance for which there is absolutely no excuse.

Obama Adviser Slammed for "Covert" Diplomacy

Obama Adviser Slammed for "Covert" Diplomacy
By Amanda Carpenter

Obama tries to play King Bam I; violates Logan Act against all common sense and protocol.

GOP presidential candidate John McCain’s foreign policy adviser sharply rebuked a key Middle East adviser of their rival’s campaign for engaging in “covert” diplomatic relations with Syria on Wednesday.

The harsh attack was made in reaction to a story published by the New York Sun in which Barack Obama’s Middle East adviser Daniel Kurtzer admitted discussing presidential politics with high-level Syrian officials at a conference underwritten Syrian business interests and a Canadian oil company.

Kurtzer, a former U.S. Ambassador to Israel and Egypt, said he told Syria’s Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem, “to move ahead in the Israel-Syria negotiations as much as possible so that whoever is the next president would not start from too far down the track" but insisted the trip was not connected to his campaign work. "I did not say anything about Obama or McCain. I said whoever is the next president is not going to want to inherit a process that isn't going anywhere," Kurtzer told the Sun.

(snip)

Former New York City Mayor and GOP presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani was also on the call. He likened Kurtzer’s meeting to Obama’s promise to meet with hostile, foreign leaders without “precondition,” a position Obama’s previous Democratic presidential rival Hillary Clinton criticized Obama for holding.

Giuliani said the Sun's report was “another indication of the inexperience Senator Obama has in conducting foreign policy and maybe an indication of his inability to do so in a way that would be responsible which is the point that Hillary Clinton made when Senator Obama said that he would negotiate with some of these people without precondition.”

“Maybe this is a playing out of his negotiating with dictators without precondition,” Giuliani said.

Obama's Lost Annenberg Years Coming to Light

Obama's Lost Annenberg Years Coming to Light
By Thomas Lifson

The cloak of media invisibility is slowly beginning to lift from Barack Obama's most important administrative leadership experience, helming an expensive educational reform effort in Chicago that failed to produce any measurable academic gains, according to the project's own final report.

Add in the fact that former Weatherman and admitted terrorist William Ayers
(whom Obama described in the Philadelphia debate as merely a "neighbor") was head of the operating arm of the CAC, working with Obama on distributing scores of millions of dollars to grantees in the wards of the city, and you have a topic that the Obama campaign wishes to avoid at all costs.

(snip)

A blogger, Steve Diamond, has put together enough data from public sources to seriously embarrass Obama over the closeness of his association with Ayers in the project, and to describe the wrong-headed and politicized approach taken by the project.

Anyone can go to this page and look at the latter half of the very lengthy post to see the data uncovered by this intrepid researcher. At a minimum, it proves that Obama has seriously misled the public about his association with Ayers. And it documents and analyzes some of the complex left wing politics underlying the effort.

Obama's Good Friend William Ayers

Obama's Good Friend William Ayers
By Confederate Yankee

Barack Obama has been deeply involved with the entire Ayers clan--proud terrorist Bill, brother John, lefist lawyer dad Thomas--since 1987. 21 years.

That's as long or longer than he's been with the Black Panther-inspired teachings of Black Liberation Theology screamed weekly from the pulpit of AIDS conspiracy-monger Jeremiah Wright.

That's as long or longer than he's called lynching advocate Michael Fleger his mentor and friend.
So please tell us, Barack Obama, why you have such deep ties with an unashamed terrorist that belonged to a group that that bombed federal buildings, committed armed robberies and murders, and even planned to slaughter innocents at a non-commissioned officers dance at Fort Dix, had Ayer's girlfriend not screwed up making the pipe bombs to be used in the attack, blowing herself to bits instead.

Please tell us, Barack Obama, how you could sit on the board of the Woods Fund, the Chicago Public Education Fund, the ABCs Coalition, etc with Ayers, and be comfortable in the company of a terrorist.

Tell us why you chose to start your political career at the home of one of your oldest allies, a man who once proudly declared war on the United States, and took up arms against it.

We're all ears

Obama Flat Wrong On Americans' Generosity

Obama Flat Wrong On Americans' Generosity
By Jay Ambrose

I guess were not a 'mean country' afterall... someone better tell Smuggle's wife...

Barack Obama, in a discussion with evangelist Rick Warren about his Christian faith, said he had been guilty of a “fundamental selfishness” that had contributed to regrettable youthful behavior.

Then he confessed for the rest of us.

“Americans’ greatest moral failure in my lifetime,” he said, “has been that we still don’t abide by that basic precept in Matthew that whatever you do for the least of my brothers, you do for me.”

Sorry, but he can hang that one up. Whatever the case is with his own selfishness, the evidence of an internationally superior American generosity is impressive, beginning with the numbers on our charitable giving. We give twice as much as the British per capita, and according to The American magazine, seven times as much as the Germans and 14 times as much as the Italians

Even in inflation-adjusted dollars, the amount given each year just keeps getting larger, and meanwhile, we do far more volunteer work than in other industrialized countries.

Bloomberg Proposes Windmills on New York City Bridges & Skyscrapers

Bloomberg Proposes Windmills on New York City Bridges & Skyscrapers
New York Post

Green 'Progressives' Want to Ruin America

Forget Chicago. New York would claim title as the genuine "Windy City" under a dramatic proposal by Mayor Bloomberg yesterday to develop wind turbines atop the Big Apple's bridges and skyscrapers.

But that's not all. The mayor also tossed out the possibility of building wind farms way out in the Atlantic Ocean, miles from shore, that he said could generate roughly twice the energy of similar land-based facilities and supply 10 percent of the city's electricity needs within a decade.

"I think it would be a thing of beauty if, when Lady Liberty looks out on the horizon, she not only welcomes new immigrants but lights their way with a torch powered by an ocean wind farm," the mayor said in the closing speech of the National Clean Energy Summit.

Bloomberg has been warning for months that Washington has its head in the sand when it comes to energy and that the nation needs a multipronged approach - everything from nuclear to geothermal initiatives - to reduce its dependence on foreign oil.

"Perhaps companies will want to put wind farms atop our bridges and skyscrapers," he said.

Obama Making His Saddleback Performance Even Worse

Obama Making His Saddleback Performance Even Worse
By C. Edmund Wright

Old Man John McCain took young Barack Obama behind the woodshed Saturday night and gave him a good ole fashioned whooping. The once Messianic Obama is now having a hard time not stumbling over his own rapidly falling halo.

Monday, he emerged as the political "child-man,"
launching a tirade in New Mexico that was almost surreal in it's tone. The performance made Harry Reid's whiny "oil is making us sick" speech seem almost Rambo-esque. It is simply amazing when you think about it, but the Democrat nominee is trying to win the right to face the Russians, the Iranians, Bin Laden and a plethora of complicated and tough domestic issues by claiming the Republicans are too "mean" to be elected.

This is presidential politics by way of the elementary school classroom. If 12 year olds could vote, Obama would certainly win in a landslide. Anyone who thinks a clever campaign line is "the Republicans...they're so mean...what are we going to do" is hardly up to the task that he is asking for.

Life Lies: Barack Obama and Born-Alive

Life Lies: Barack Obama and Born-Alive
By David Freddoso

In 2001, Senator Barack Obama was the only member of the Illinois senate to speak against a bill that would have recognized premature abortion survivors as “persons.” The bill was in response to a Chicago-area hospital that was leaving such babies to die. Obama voted “present” on the bill after denouncing it.

It passed the state Senate but died in a state house committee.In 2003, a similar bill came before Obama’s health committee. He voted against it. But this time, the legislation was slightly different. This latter version was identical to the federal Born-Alive Infants Protection Act, which by then had already passed the U.S. Senate unanimously (with a hearty endorsement even from abortion advocate Sen. Barbara Boxer) and had been signed into law by President Bush.

Sen. Obama is currently misleading people about what he voted against, specifically claiming that the bill he voted against in his committee lacked “neutrality” language on Roe v. Wade. The bill did contain this language. He even participated in the unanimous vote to put it in.

Obama’s work against the bill to protect premature babies represents one of two times in his political career, along with his speech against the Iraq war, that he really stuck out his neck for something that might hurt him politically. Unlike his Iraq speech, Obama is deeply embarrassed about this one — so embarrassed that he is offering a demonstrable falsehood in explanation for his actions. Fortunately, the documents showing the truth are now available.

Obama-Ayers Records Blocked at U of I Chicago

Obama-Ayers Records Blocked at U of I Chicago
Rick Moran

This is getting curiouser and curiouser...

Records detailing the workings of a 1990's charitable group working to better education in the city of Chicago that are housed at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) are being shielded from the prying eyes of reporters. The significance of these records is that the foundation in question was run by none other than Barack Obama. And the foundation was formed by none other than William Ayers, the radical Weather Underground terrorist who Obama has referred to as "just a neighbor."

Stanley Kurtz of the National Review has tried to access records of The Annenberg Challenge on Excellence in Education and met with a stone wall. This despite the fact that the records are supposedly open to the public:

The Special Collections section of the Richard J. Daley Library agreed to let me read them, but just before I boarded my flight to Chicago, the top library officials mysteriously intervened to bar access. Circumstances strongly suggest the likelihood that Bill Ayers himself may have played a pivotal role in this denial. Ayers has long taught at UIC, where the Chicago Annenberg Challenge offices were housed, rent-free. Ayers likely arranged for the files of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge to be housed in the UIC library, and may well have been consulted during my unsuccessful struggle to gain access to the documents

The records would almost certainly make Obama out to be a liar about the extent of his personal relationship with this unreconstructed terrorist:

McCain: Obama Tried to Legislate Iraqi Failure

McCain: Obama Tried to Legislate Iraqi Failure
By Philip Elliott

Obama wanted to defund our troops to make it impossible for them to win

John McCain told fellow veterans on Monday that his Democratic rival Barack Obama tried to legislate failure in Iraq and has refused to admit he erred when opposing the military increase there last year.

McCain said Obama placed his political self-interest ahead of his country's, a theme the Arizona Republican has often repeated. McCain told a friendly convention of the Veterans of Foreign Wars that Obama's positions have changed as his political ambitions grew.

"With less than three months to go before the election, a lot of people are still trying to square Sen. Obama's varying positions on the surge in Iraq. First, he opposed the surge and confidently predicted that it would fail. Then he tried to prevent funding for the troops who carried out the surge," McCain said.

"Not content to merely predict failure in Iraq, my opponent tried to legislate failure."

snip...

McCain said victory in Iraq is in sight, but much depends on the next president's judgment.
"The lasting advantage of a peaceful and democratic ally in the heart of the Middle East could still be squandered by hasty withdrawal and arbitrary timelines. And this is one of many problems in the shifting positions of my opponent, Sen. Obama," McCain said.

The Republican nominee-in-waiting said Obama's political ambitions have blinded him to reality. He also said Obama has refused to change his positions to reflect new success.

"Even in retrospect, he would choose the path of retreat and failure for America over the path of success and victory," McCain said. "In short, both candidates in this election pledge to end this war and bring our troops home.

"The great difference is that I intend to win it first."

DNC Convention 'Credentials' Feature Upside-Down Flag

DNC Convention Credentials Feature Upside-Down Flag
By Rusty Weiss

Having seen photo propaganda used in the media to benefit Barack Obama, one has to wonder if it will be equally important to circulate a picture that may not show the 'savior' in a particularly good light. As such, a ticket design for the Democratic National Convention has been accompanied by a bit of controversy.

The
credential appears to show an upside-down American flag on both sides. What's worse, the front makes it appear as if Obama is cloaked in the flag, as the stars are almost visually equivalent to his shirt. In fact, Matt Chandler speaking on behalf of the Obama campaign states:

"...it is a stylized flag designed to blend the stars on Senator Obama's shirt with the flag blowing in the wind." The first question that arises is why would a man who once refused to wear the American flag on his lapel, be interested in sporting a patriotic shirt, overflowing with stars?

more...

http://newsbusters.org/blogs/rusty-weiss/2008/08/18/dnc-convention-credentials-feature-upside-down-flag

The upside-down flag is a signal of distress. However, the Lefties/Libbies/Democrat Party members/anarchists/radicals etc. use it to protest George W. Bush's presidency, exhibit their disrespect for America, and convey the secret message that they are going to tear down America and build it back up in the image they want: heavily socialist/communist, and outlawing the Republican party altogether. They desperately want the deck stacked in their favor, for all time.

Note, too, that these aren't simply tickets to an event. Lefties feel they up their pedigree by calling them 'credentials'. One of the obscure meanings of 'credentials' is 'something that indicates a person is entitled to credit or has a right to exercise official power'. That is no coincidence either; they mean every word of it.

Look at the pictoral: Obama looks like he's drowning in the flag... (would that he was steeped in that much true patriotism!) This is just another sound-bite/photo-op-hype for him; it matches his shirt. The flag is not supposed to be used in this manner--and it may be turned upside-down only in cases of physical emergency, accident, or when needing rescue. Don't be fooled by the Left's fluttery, vague excuses when they are called on this. Turning the flag upside-down is very deliberate--it implies much more than can be seen on the surface--none of it good.

McCain's Saddleback Grand Slam

McCain's Saddleback Grand Slam
By Jed Babbin

The definition of a hero

(Snip...) McCain was energized, comfortable and quietly eloquent in explaining why his life proves the most important of qualities in a president: character and core beliefs. Obama -- consistently charming and shallow -- demonstrated neither of those qualities.

John McCain was a prisoner of the North Vietnamese for more than five years. Researching an article four years ago on John Kerry’s antiwar activities during many of those same years, I interviewed more than a half-dozen of McCain’s fellow POWs. Each of them, in much the same words, said:

“I wouldn’t be alive today but for the personal courage of John McCain.”

That courage was explained, calmly, by McCain when Warren asked him to describe the most difficult “gut-wrenching” decision in his life.

McCain answered, “It was long ago and far away in a prison camp in North Vietnam. My father was a high ranking admiral. The Vietnamese came and said that I could leave prison early. And we had a code of conduct that said you only leave by order of capture. I also had a dear and beloved friend who was from California by the name of Ed Alvarez who had been shot down and captured a couple years before me. But I wasn't in good physical shape. In fact I was in rather bad physical shape.”

“So I said no. Now, in interest of full disclosure, I'm very happy I didn't know the war was going to last for another three years or so. But I said no. And I'll never forget. The high-ranking officer who offered it slammed the door and the interrogator said go back to your cell, it's going to be very tough on you now. And it was. But [it was] not only the toughest decision I ever made but I'm most happy about that decision than any decision I've ever made in my life. It took a lot of prayer. It took a lot of prayer.”

In answer to the same question, the best Obama could do was to claim his decision to oppose the war in Iraq was his toughest. How that was a gut-wrenching decision he didn’t explain. Given the fact that his campaign for the Democratic nomination succeeded because that “decision” gave Obama a huge advantage among the anti-war liberals who control the Democratic Party, Obama’s answer revealed political calculation, not moral courage.

Obama's Biggest Saddleback Gaffe

Obama's Biggest Saddleback Gaffe
By Amanda Carpenter

I received an email this morning to tell me we missed Obama's biggest Saddleback gaffe.

Remember when Obama was talking about abortion and said, "Although we've had a president who is opposed to abortions over the last eight years, abortions have not gone down" ?

My emailer passes on this 2008 article from U.S. News and World Report showing abortions have decreased dramatically under George Bush's tenure. The title of it is "U.S. Abortion Rate Falls to Lowest Level in Decades."

"So yes, Obama is either stunningly uninformed on one of American politics’ most volatile issues, or he outright lied to a pastor on national television (not to mention the American people) as he gave lip service to a known left wing myth," my friend writes.

Do You Know Where They Want To Drill In ANWR?

Photobucket

Do You Know Where They Want To Drill In ANWR?
By Douglas Turner, AM Thinker

I spent a month traveling in the Brooks Range and North Slope in 2004. Here are several things I learned:

1. When Prudhoe Bay was developed around 1970, the Greens screamed that the pipeline woould destroy the herds of caribou and musk oxen by blocking migration. The fact is that the pipeline stands eight feet above the tundra in order to prevent melting of the permafrost (a bad thing!). They migrate back and forth freely and ignore the pipe. Actually the herds have increased to about three times their 1970's size. During harsh winters, they gather under the pipe and absorb a little bit of radiated heat (oil moves through at 140 deg. F). Their survival rate is enhanced by a bit of winter protection.

2. The area around Prudhoe Bay is heavily protected... both flora and fauna. No one leaves the Prudhoe compound (an exception is a brief time and area during caribou hunting season). A clerk at the Prudhoe general store told me of a recent incident in which a contract employee was seen throwing rocks at a red fox which was pestering him. He was summarily fired and put on the next plane out.

3. Trucks which drive the haul road between Prudhoe and Fairbanks are under many environmental restrictions. If a truck leaks oil, the driver must place a drip pan underneath at every stop. Then the truck must be repaired ASAP.

4. Once the Prudhoe fields are finally depleted (a few decades from now) the area will, by law, be completely cleaned up and restored to it's original, pristine condition. Everyone will then leave. ANWR will be the same.

Basically there are many lies being told about ANWR. How many Greens have actually gone there and seen the truth?

Goose egg!

New Rap Song Advocates Killing Bill O'Reilly and Michelle Malkin

New Rap Song Advocates Killing Bill O'Reilly and Michelle Malkin
By Noel Sheppard

Although the hatred for conservative media members by leftists in this nation knows no bounds, a new "song" by the rap group East Coast Avengers represents a new low in vitriolic musical expression.

Entitled "Kill Bill O'Reilly," the piece actually advocates the murder of "The Factor" host, as well as a similar fate for Michelle Malkin.

Included in the number are recordings of media members such as Keith Olbermann making disparaging remarks about O'Reilly, as well as a couple of lyrics that seem to suggest the authors of this filth read the leftwing website Media Matters which coincidentally spends a great deal of time transcribing the Fox star's words.

As this is some really vile detritus, full lyrics come below the fold, and readers are highly cautioned to enter at their own risk (

Voters Should Pass A Minimal Civics Test
By Doug Patton, Hernando Today

I have never been an advocate of the popular notion that "everyone should vote." Some people look at me as if I am somehow un-American when I say that I am not in favor of encouraging people to vote who would otherwise never darken the door of a polling place. I really don't want someone on the streets of Hollywood, who just failed to identify the vice president of the United States on one of Jay Leno's "Jay-Walking" segments, helping to select the person who will lead my government for the next four years.

So here is a basic, common-sense test that every American wishing to exercise the right to vote should answer (I'm sure in this dumbed-down era in which we live we will have to come up with multiple choice answers to make it easier). Here are some preliminary questions:

1.) Name the three branches of the federal government.
2.) Name the current president and vice president of the United States.
3.) How long have they served?
4.) How long is the president allowed to serve?

5.) How many members are there in the U.S. House of Representatives?
6.) How are House members chosen?
7.) How long is their term in office?
8.) How long are they allowed to serve?

9.) Name the current speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives.
10.) Which party currently holds the majority in the U.S. House of Representatives?

11.) How many members are there in the U.S. Senate?
12.) How are U.S. Senators normally chosen?
13.) How long is a U.S. Senator's term in office?
14.) How long are they allowed to serve?
15.) Name the current majority leader of the U.S. Senate.
16.) Which party currently holds the majority in the U.S. Senate?

17.) How many individuals currently sit on the United States Supreme Court?
18.) Name three of them.
19.) How are members of the U.S. Supreme Court selected?
20.) How long can Supreme Court Justices serve?

21.) What is an electoral vote?
22.) How many electoral votes are currently required in order to elect the president and vice president?
23.) How is the president selected if he/she fails to receive the required number of electoral votes?
24.) How is the vice president selected if he/she fails to receive the required number of electoral votes?

25.) What is an executive order?
26.) How is an amendment to the U.S. Constitution passed?
27.) How many constitutional conventions has the United States had?

If a potential voter could not answer at least 18 of these questions (two-thirds), he/she should not be allowed to vote. How did you do? Need to study up? Answers are below:

1.) Executive, Legislative, Judicial;
2.) George W. Bush and Richard B. Cheney;
3.) Since Jan. 20, 2001;
4.) Two four-year terms (or no more than ten years if serving the remainder of a previous term

5.) 435;
6.) By popular vote within their state congressional district;
7.) Two years;
8.) No limit;

9.) Nancy Pelosi;
10.) Democrat;

11.) 100 [two from each state];
12.) By statewide popular vote within their state;
13.) Six years;
14.) No limit;
15.) Harry Reid;
16.) Democrat;

17.) Nine;
18.) the nine [in no particular order] are: John Roberts, Ruth Bader Ginsberg, David Souter, Antonin Scalia, Clarence Thomas, John Paul Stevens, Samuel Alito, Stephen Breyer and Anthony Kennedy;
19.) Nominated by the president, approved by a simple majority of the U.S. Senate;
20.) Life;

21.) Each state receives one electoral vote for each member of its congressional delegation;
22.) 270;
23.) By a vote of the U.S. House of Representatives;
24.) By a vote of the U.S. Senate;

25.) a presidential decree requiring no congressional approval;
26.) By a vote of two-thirds of the Congress and three-fourths of the state legislatures or through a constitutional convention;
27.) One.
